CARS will be prevented from parking dangerously near to a Darlington primary school.
Parking restrictions are to be put in place on a back lane near to St Augustine's RC Primary School following concerns that parked vehicles could cause an accident.
The lane, which runs between Beechwood Avenue and Coniscliffe Road, is a popular walking route to the school.
However, a number of parents were concerned that cars which parked there to drop off and pick up pupils could create a safety risk.
Coun Cyndi Hughes said she and her fellow ward councillor, Joe Lyonette, both received a number of complaints about the parking and decided to take the issue up with the council.
Coun Hughes, who is also a governor at St Augustines, said: "It's a safety issue as people who block that access are causing a danger to young children and their families and now this will enable the council to take action."
Martina McCollom, acting headteacher of St Augustine's, said: "We're very happy, because the childrens safety is our chief concern."
