A YOUNG golfer has aced his first hole-in-one less than three years after picking up his first club.
Jack McKay recorded the feat during a holiday in Turkey while playing a round with his father and other golfers at the resort.
Jack, 14, from Hurworth, in Darlington, made his hole-in-one on the par three 151-yard 16th at the National Golf Club, in Belek, Turkey.
He said: "It was a bit of a shock. I knew it was going near the hole and knew it was going close but I wasn't sure until I got down to the hole and looked in."
Jack was presented with a map of the course and a certificate my the course professional but was spared the usual call to buy a round of drinks because of his tender age.
Jack, who goes to Hurworth School, is a member of Stressholme Golf Club, in Darlington, but also plays with friends at the nearby Dinsdale Spa Golf Club.
Jack started playing three years ago when his grandmother gave him an old set clubs previously used by his cousin.
He started playing with his father, Stuart, but did not start playing regularly until a little over a year ago.
He said: "I love it now."
