A BUSINESSMAN has pledged his support to a mini World Cup tournament being staged at his former school.
The tournament is being held tomorrow at Eastbourne Sports Complex to celebrate the 2006 World Cup.
The tournament is being sponsored by consultancy firm Capita, which also sponsors a Monday night football league.
Steve Robinson, managing director, said: "It is very satisfying as an old boy of Eastbourne School to be able to give something back through help with the school's sports complex."
This is the first time the men's six-a-side has been held.
Organiser Michael Leighton said: "We have had a lot of interest from local teams, and have filled the fixture list without any difficulty.
"If it goes well, we are hoping to make it a bigger and better annual event."
The tournament and will be affiliated by the Durham Football Association and will be using qualified referees.
Twenty-four teams will play for the Capita Trophy, and kick-off is at 9.30am.
