YOUNG fashion designers took to the catwalk to raise hundreds of pounds for charity.
Twenty-four national diploma fashion, art and design students from Darlington College transformed the social club at Darlington Memorial Hospital into a style runway for the evening, as they showed off their final collections.
Everything from urban wear T-shirts to glamorous evening dresses were paraded before an appreciative audience on a charity night to remember, which also featured performers from Stagecoach.
A total of £345 was raised on the night, which will go towards transforming a room at the hospital's pain clinic into a therapy room for holistic treatments.
The show was the idea of patient Susan Heald, of West Auckland, who has used the pain clinic for the past three years.
"I was in permanent pain after undergoing abdominal surgery, but the clinic has given me my life back, it really has," she said.
"It was a brilliant night and the kids were fantastic. There is so much talent around.
"The money will go towards the special therapy room, for things such as acupuncture and reiki.
"People will be able to go in together for treatments and talk about their problems, which really helps."
Darlington College fashion tutor Lynne Waterfall-Brown said: "We were delighted to help such a good cause and it also gave the students the opportunity to show off their work.
"It was a great experience for all of them performing in front of a live audience, and has really boosted their confidence."
The students are now preparing for their next fashion show, which will take place in Skinnergate, Darlington, in association with womenswear shop Leggs, on Sunday, June 11, at 1pm and 3pm.
