PUPILS at a Darlington school are celebrating a year of sporting achievement.
Since September, pupils from Polam Hall School have won a total of six town tournaments and have been selected to attend specialist Tees Valley academies to receive expert coaching in netball, hockey and athletics.
Recent athletics successes for Polam Hall include the U15 squad gaining first place in the county Schools Cup Athletics Competition, and the U15 and U13 squads triumphing over 23 others in the Independent Schools Athletics Championships, in York.
Pupils have also represented Darlington and County Durham in netball, hockey, cross-country and athletics, with several students showing themselves to be sporting stars of the future.
Polam Hall pupils at the top of their sport include tri- athlete Maddy Winzer, who ran at the National Cross-Country Championships, and Jade Clark, who fences for the Great Britain under-21s team.
Other rising stars include Ellie Givens, who trains and plays golf with the England Junior Squad; and Lauren Peacock, Katie Slade and Polly Enevoldson, who attend the England Netball Association Talent Camp.
Headteacher Marie Green said: "They have shown real commitment to their academic studies and to their extra-curricular activities
