DARLINGTON MP Alan Milburn went back to his roots this week when he joined local councillors for a walking street surgery.
The former health secretary visited the town's Skerne Park area with Darlington Borough Councillors for Park East ward, Cyndi Hughes, Glen Reynolds and Joe Lyonette.
They were also joined by council leader John Williams.
Starting in Tennyson Gardens, the group discussed concerns with residents before moving on to St Augustine's Primary School.
At the school, which is celebrating its 20th birthday, Mr Milburn presented headteacher Catherine Crawford with a bunch of flowers to mark her 50th birthday.
Mr Milburn said: "It was a really useful surgery and it has been really good to hear what everybody had to say.
"I will write to people with a response after I have investigated their concerns."
