A £750,000 retirement complex has been opened in Darlington by the town's new mayor.
Councillor Eleanor Lister opened the development, at Swale Grove, in Skerne Park, which was built on the site of the former St Augustine's Church Hall and provides seven two-bedroomed bungalows for older people.
Work on the Endeavour Housing Association development was completed in January and was partly funded with a grant of nearly £500,000 from the Housing Corporation. Most of the tenants are from the surrounding area.
The construction work was carried out by Dunelm Property Services.
