Darlington'S Odeon cinema will screen its first 3D film later this month.
The groundbreaking technology, used in the Academy Award nominated science fiction film Avatar, will be used at the cinema at Northgate from March 31.
The first film to be screened using the system will be the new DreamWorks film How to Train Your Dragon.
Sue Peel, General Manager at the cinema, said: The team at Odeon Darlington is thrilled to be bringing a truly immersive 3D cinema experience to Darlington.
2010 promises to be a hugely exciting year for 3D film - we can't wait for local film fanatics to experience the state-of-the-art technology for themselves and enjoy this year's biggest blockbusters in the highest quality possible.
