Darlington Football Club will join a league campaign when they host a special Help for Heroes game on Saturday.

The Quakers will commemorate the Armed Forces to coincide with the Football League's Help for Heroes week during their game with Torquay United at The Northern Echo Darlington Arena.

Matchday collections will be made on Saturday for Help for Heroes, which is the official charity of the Football League.

The Royal Dragoon Guards, based at Catterick Garrison, will be at the game.

Assistant manager Kevin Richardson said: "It promises to be a special occasion. The largest British Barracks in Europe, Catterick Garrison, is on our doorstep so while it's always important to recognise and support Help for Heroes, it's particularly important for us.

"It's important for everyone to always remember and recognise what our troops are fighting for, and we're proud to be dedicating a league fixture to this cause."

Discounted tickets are available for those in the force and their families from the ticket office or on 0871-855-1883.

They are priced at £5 for adults and £3 for under 16s.

* The club will hold a minutes silence before the game in memory of Macclesfield Town manager Keith Alexander, who sadly passed away on Wednesday.
