A STUDENT hoping to help disadvantaged South American children during her gap year has achieved a fundraising milestone.
Anna Seymour, from Darlington, has raised half of the £4,850 total she needs to teach English to children in Chile’s capital Santiago.
The 17-year-old’s year-long placement, which starts in August, is being organised by charity Project Trust.
Anna reached the halfway point on Saturday after holding a coffee morning at St John's Church, in Neasham Road, Darlington, which raised £250.
She said "I really appreciate the support from the Reverend Mike Dent and my friends at St John's Church and would like to thank everyone who attended, ran stalls, baked cakes which all contributed to the success of the event. Everyone had a good time.”
