STUDENTS have rallied to the cause by donating hundreds of items for an appeal to help children in troubled parts of the world.
Staff and students at Darlington College have been collecting in aid of Samaritan's Purse for a Christmas shoebox appeal.
An array of goodies ranging from toys and books to paper, crayons and toiletries have been handed in for the appeal.
The wrapped parcels will be handed out by charity workers at Christmas.
The college's chaplaincy team this year mobilised the whole college to help the charity and a large collection box was set up in the restaurant.
College chaplaincy tutor Brian Simpson said: "We are absolutely delighted with the response which has been phenomenal.
"College staff have also donated more than £100 towards postage costs. Further donations would be gratefully received over half term week."
Fellow college chaplaincy tutor Gilly Beck said: "The students have been quite busy and it is very worthwhile supporting people who dont have the advantages we have."
Representatives from Samaritan's Purse are expected to collect the shoeboxes on November 5.
They could end up helping children anywhere in the world as the charity responds to humanitarian crisis.
