POLICE have launched an appeal to find people responsible for attempting to steal a car.

Thieves attempted to steal an N-registered Vauxhall Corsa from Regal Drive in Darlington between 6.30pm on October 24 and 9.40am the following morning.

PC Gary McLean, from Darlington Police, said those responsible attempted to gain entry by pulling out the lock on the passenger door.

He said when that failed, they attempted to bend back the side of the door but this also failed. They pulled the beading out from the window but were unable to gain entry via any of the methods.

The offenders left the scene without gaining entry to the car.

Police said Regal Drive, in the Harrowgate Hill area of the town, is a cul-de-sac so the offenders must have known the vehicle was there.

Any witnesses with information should contact 0345-60-60-365 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555-111.
