A COMPOSER and pianist is to perform his first recital in Darlington next month.
Christopher Smith, 23, will play works by Schumann, Rachmaninov, Chopin, Liszt and Alkan, as well as four of his own pieces at Darlington Arts Centre.
The concert has been arranged by Darlington Festival of Performing Arts.
Mr Smith, who lives in Guisborough, was given a bursary by the festival last year to allow him to take part in the Emanuel Piano Competition, in London.
Trevor Daynes, festival organiser, said: "This is Christopher's first piano recital in Darlington. He is one of the most incredible pianists I have had the pleasure of listening to. He is destined for greater things."
The concert is on Saturday, November 7, from 7.30pm. Tickets are £8, concessions £6, from the box office on 01325-486555.
