DANCE star Darrien Wright will help to launch a series of weekend activities for young people.
C:The Weekend will offer 11-to 19-year olds activities such as dance workshops, music sessions, sports events and trips on Friday and Saturday nights at venues across the town and borough.
It will be launched at Mish Mash on Friday at the Dolphin Centre from 6pm to 10pm, when young people can try out, for free, activities which will be on offer.
Activities on Friday include taster sessions in dodgeball and boxercise, as well as DJing, rock band, pampering and fashion workshops. Also available will be salsa, street dance and musical theatre classes along with the chance to play giant board games.
The events have been organised by Darlington Borough Council, Durham Police and voluntary and private organisations including eVOLution, Mr Wright’s Dance Wright Studio and The Forum.
Jenny Chapman, the council's cabinet member for children and young people, said: "C:The Weekend looks set to give young people plenty do on weekends across the Borough. Mish Mash will give young people the chance to try something new for free and carry on the activity at C:The Weekend over the coming months if they want to."
Young people wanting to attend on Friday do not need to book in advance.
C:The Weekend will run until April next year. For listings, visit clicktodo.co.uk or call 01325-346431.
