A MUSICAL teenager hit all the right notes to reach the national final of a talent competition.
Harriet Wigley-Smith, from Coundon, near Bishop Auckland, impressed judges at the regional final of the Open Mic contest with a song she penned herself, entitled Guilty.
She also played the piano during her performance at the Journal Tyne Theatre, in Newcastle.
Harriet, 16, who is studying A-levels at the Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form Centre, in Darlington, was one of three acts chosen from the under 18s category for the national final, which also includes categories for 18 to 25-year-olds, and over 25s.
"I am so excited," said Harriet, who works part-time at the Imperial Express, in Darlington.
"I was so shocked when they called my name out. All my family and friends were cheering in the audience."
The final takes place in Manchester on December 6.
