A NINE-YEAR-OLD talent show entrant has been chosen to open the parade of a village show which will also feature Morris dancing and a Saxon display.
The annual Sadberge Village Festival on a Saxon theme takes place on Saturday, July 11, from 10am with the fancy dress procession starting at 1.15pm.
Jordan McKinnon was chosen from the all the winners of the recent Sadberge Has Talent Show to open the parade.
The king and queen will be crowned by former parish and borough councillor Beatrice Cuthbertson, before they lead the parade around the village back to the green.
Groups supporting the festival will be Locos in Motion Border Morris team, Sadberge Parish Council, St Andrew's Church, Sadberge Village Hall Association and the Three Tuns Inn.
Events will run throughout the day. There will be a flower festival and organ music from 10am to 4pm in St Andrews Church. Entry will by programme, which is £2, and free for children. The show will also run on the Sunday.
A display of children's Saxon shields and artefacts will also be in the church.
Attractions on the village green, subject to the weather, will include Morris dancing, maypole dancing, face painting, basketball, stocks and other games.
Entertainment culminates in the evening with live music on the green.
Festival organiser Millie Scaife said: "We are hoping for some sunshine this year, but if not, there will still be plenty to do and see indoors at the hall and the church."
