ULTIMATE frisbee, tag rugby and uni-hockey were just some of the sports pupils at a Darlington school have been trying out to mark National School Sports Week.
As well as trying their hands at other new sports including dodge ball and lacrosse, and working out on dance mats, students at Hurworth Maths and Computing College, in Hurworth near Darlington, were also paid a visit by teenage boxer Declan Fusco, from Peterlee, in County Durham.
Declan spoke to pupils and answered questions at an assembly on Tuesday. His appearance was arranged by sponsors Lloyds TSB.
School sports co-ordinator Michael Garmston said the pupils had enjoyed some of the sports so much, he was considering adding them to the syllabus next year.
“Lacrosse has gone down really well with both the boys and the girls, so I’m thinking about adding it to the curriculum next year,” he said.
“It has been a really good week and the children have enjoyed themselves.”
