A MAN lost six stone in five months after becoming frustrated at not being able to play with his granddaughter in the park.
A car accident in 1999 left Neil Wadge with neck and back injuries.
Because of this, Mr Wadge became increasingly inactive and began to put on weight.
When he reached 18 stone, he was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, and he realised that his lifestyle had to change.
The 38-year-old of Deneside Road in Darlington said: "I was quite down about my weight, looking back.
"It was difficult to get close to people, difficult to get comfortable, it had quite an impact.
"I was always aware I should lose weight, but never attempted it until I was diagnosed with diabetes."
Mr Wadge lost weight through the LighterLife diet. Since shedding the weight, he is no longer diabetic and said he now has enough energy to be more involved with his family.
He added: "I didn't spend much time with my granddaughter when she was a toddler, I got used to avoiding going with her to the park.
"It has made such a difference, I'm much more active, I travel more and I am probably more productive at work as well."
