A POPULAR teacher is starting his retirement on the right note by playing a fundraising gig at his school.
Head of English Mike Webster, who is also singer and saxophonist in local blues band The Vast Majority, will celebrate his retirement by performing on Saturday to raise funds for Carmel RC College Parents’ and Teachers’ Association (PTA).
Mr Webster retired recently following 17 years of teaching at the college.
Martin Wood, PTA chairman, said "Mike has made a tremendous contribution to the life of the school and has been involved in several PTA events and the annual school performances.
“The gig will be a great way of celebrating his career in teaching and his contribution to the school. We wish him well in his retirement."
Tickets are £4 each and are available on the door. Doors open 7.30pm. There will be a licensed bar.
