A MAN was arrested after making threats with a knife in a Darlington street.
Police cordoned off Wilson in Street, in the Denes area of Darlington, shortly before 11pm on Sunday night.
But Inspector John Zissler, of Darlington police, said the road closure was as a precaution, and that nobody was hurt during the episode.
Insp Zissler added: "The call reported that a person in the premises had a weapon and was making certain threats.
"We treated it as we always do when there is the possibility of a weapon being involved. We treated it as a firearms incident.
"The person was arrested and he is waiting to be dealt with.
"There is a possibility he may be suffering from mental health problems and he will shortly be assessed."
