PARAMEDICS restarted a man's heart in an air ambulance following a car crash in Darlington tonight.
The man suffered a suspected heart attack at the wheel and his car crashed.
Pedestrians who saw the man clutching his chest at around 4pm gave him CPR until ambulance crews took over.
The Great North Air Ambulance landed on nearby playing fields.
And as the man was being airlifted to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough paramedics brought him back to life - half an hour after his heart stopped.
He is now in a critical condition in intensive care.
