POLICE are appealing for information after a woman was allegedly subjected to a serious sexual assault and held against her will.
The alleged incident took place between the early hours of Thursday, May 14, and Friday, May 15, in the Woodlands Terrace area, in Darlington’s Pierremont ward.
Detectives would like to hear from anyone in the area who may have seen anything suspicious at that time.
Detective sergeant James Cunningham told The Northern Echo: “Between the early hours of Thursday, May 14, and Friday, May 15, an incident took place in the Woodland Terrace area of Darlington, where it is alleged a young female was subjected to a sustained sexual and physical assault and was then held against her will at an address in that area.
“Police are trying to locate anyone who saw any suspicious activity in that area between those times.”

* A man has been charged with rape, malicious wounding, false imprisonment and possession of an offensive weapon in relation to the incident. He is due to appear in court on Friday.
