GREEN hair, studs, chains, make-up and studded collars were all the rage at a school.
Children at Mowden Junior School, in Darlington, discarded their school uniform to come dressed as punks for the day.
The pupils had been reading a book Crummy Mummy and Me by Anne Fine. It is written from a young girls point of view after her mother finds a new boyfriend, a punk complete with a blue mohican.
To celebrate the end of the project, children were invited to come into school with a range of punk outfits.
Teacher Tricia Todd said: "It is a really fun book. We have studied it for the last two weeks.
"Today is quite a sight. I just hope they will be back to normal next week."
