Darlington's Neil Austin was tonight named in the PFA League Two team of the year.

The defender has been a regular all season and his performances were recognised by his fellow professionals at the PFA Awards at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

Austin, who turned 26 today, made his return from a hamstring injury in Saturday's defeat to newly-crowned League Two champions Brentford.

Last season Austin's team-mate Steve Foster was selected in the PFA team.

Despite finishing the season top-of-the-table, Brentford do not have a single player in the line-up.

But long-time leaders Wycombe, who remain in pole position to clinch second spot, have three players in the team in the shape of goalkeeper Scott Shearer, centre-back David McCracken and midfielder Tommy Doherty.

Shrewsbury, who must win against Dagenham next weekend to earn a play-off spot, are represented by midfielder Ben Davies and Grant Holt, while Bury - who can still make automatic promotion - have a sole representative in their top scorer Andy Bishop.

Gillingham and Rochdale - both guaranteed play-off places - have one player each in the team, with Gills centre-back Simon King and Dale full-back Tom Kennedy getting the nod.

And the team is completed by Bradford winger Omar Daley and Lincoln forward Dany NGuessan.
