ADMINISTRATORS in control of Darlington FC have extended the deadline for new owners by two weeks.
Three weeks ago, Brackenbury Clark & Co had set a deadline for potential investors into the cash-strapped club at 5pm today.
A statement made today by the club on behalf of the administrator said the deadline had been formally extended to Tuesday, May 5, because no acceptable offers had been made.
The statement said: "The deadline for opening offers to be made to purchase Darlington Football Club out of administration will pass at 5pm today.
"Given that no offer has as yet been accepted the administrator has made the decision to formally extend the deadline for offers until 5pm on Tuesday May 5.
"This decision has been made because the administrator is continuing to hold discussions with interested parties which have not come to any definitive conclusion although there are a number of parties who are willing to pursue their interest further.
"As such, the additional time has been provided to allow these discussions to continue in the expectation of firstly giving these discussions the opportunity to translate into formal offers for the club and secondly to give time for any other potential bidders to come forward.
"The deadline of May 5, 2009, is a deadline for interested parties to make an offer for the club.
"It is not a deadline at which point the club will be closed should no offer have been accepted by then.
"As such, the club will continue as it has done and fulfil the remainder of its fixtures regardless of any offers."
Earlier today, Dave Clark from the administrator said that offers had been made for the club, which was placed in administration in February.
