A COMMUNITY group has embraced the digital age in a bid to keep in touch with residents by launching a group on a social networking website and text messaging service.
Firthmoor and District Community Association have launched a Facebook group to allow people in the community to join, comment on local issues and upload any photographs and memories of the association.
The group has also launched a text messaging service, to allow members to receive news and information when they register their number with the association The group has also launched a full colour quarterly newsletter which will be delivered to all households in Firthmoor. It will also be available on the association’s website.
Association chairman Kevin Nicholson said: “Today we live in a very competitive environment, where media coverage is hard to gain.
“We are now able to inform people in our own way.”
