A THEATRE in a town has launched learning materials for the community.
Teachers and parents can now download and share free online Heritage Learning Resource Packs from the Darlington Hippodrome website.
The packs include whiteboard slides, activity sheets, teacher notes and other resources within four subject areas of Pepi and his Palaces of Variety, Darlington Hippodrome, Pantomime Magic and Around the Hippodrome – A Local Study.
Each subject area has four sets of information which can be downloaded and used together or individually, including teacher notes, read and explain, PowerPoint slides and addition resource folders.
The teacher notes are a series of PDF documents aimed at giving an outline of the subject area and summarising the learning objectives for the activities.
The read and explain documents are sheets about key themes or characters in the theatre’s history which are explored in the four subject areas. The PowerPoint slides feature literacy, numeracy and comprehension-based activities, and the resource folders contain a mix of templates, images and maps to aid further engagement within activities.
The release follows the Hippodrome's closure, as a Darlington Council building, following the coronavirus outbreak. Find the packs in the Take Part section of the Hippodrome's website.
