Peter and Marie Hastie, both 81, from Darlington have celebrated their Diamond wedding anniversary.
They married on the June, 13 at St Williams Church Barton Street, Albert Hill in Darlington back in 1959.
Mr Hastie, who previously worked as a joiner for Darlington Borough Council, and Mrs Hastie who was a dinner lady, both worked at a social club.
They now have four children, and 15 grand-children and a further four great grand-children.
The Hastie's both met in the Co-op café, formerly on Priestgate in their teens and were married by the time they were 21.
As part of their diamond wedding anniversary the couple received Papal Blessing from Pope Francis and a card from the Queen.
The married couple met the Mayor and Mayoress of Darlington, and celebrated the occasion at Dalkeith House, where they asked for donations rather than presents.
The couple have since managed to raise around £200 for Cancer research UK.
Marie and Peter said "the key to their long happy marriage has been honesty, hard work and compromise; being there for each other in sickness and in health as they promised one another sixty years ago".
