DARLINGTON have today signed two players from a Premier League club and both are in contention to make their debut tomorrow.
Ben Jackson and Kit Elliott have joined on loan from Huddersfield Town, manager Tommy Wright adding reinforcements for the final eight games of the season, starting at home tomorrow against Chester.
Quakers need a morale-boosting win, after a poor run that has seen them drop to 17th in the table, leading to Wright looking for additions.
Left-back Jackson is 18, and striker Elliott is 17. Their loans are classed as work experience, which are for players on academy scholarships and not full-time professional contracts. They are open-ended, with no end date.
Jackson is from Stockport and is described by Huddersfield as a “very versatile player”, able to play at full-back or on the wing on either side.
He has been a virtual ever-present for Huddersfield’s Under-19 and development sides this season, scoring twice in 32 starts and a substitute appearance.
Elliott, who turns 18 next week, is from London and has been with Huddersfield’s academy since last summer.
He has been capped by England at Under-16 level, and is understood to be a strong striker, netting twice in 15 starts and 11 substitute appearances this season for the Under-19s.
Their arrival takes Quakers’ number of additions this week to three following Omar Holness, a Jamaican international midfielder.
Joe Wheatley remains injured so will be unavailable tomorrow, as is Jonny Burn.
Romal Palmer picked up a knock in last week’s defeat to Hereford so may miss out tomorrow.
