A TALENTED young swimmer has returned from the county championships laden with medals.
Harriet Rogers of Darlington Swimming Club finished the Northumberland & Durham County Championships with a fantastic haul of five medals in the 15 years age group at Ponds Forge, Sheffield.
She produced her best ever swims in all of her events to finish in the Top 3 in sprint events on three different strokes, winning 50m and 100m Freestyle and 50m Butterfly, finishing runner-up in 50m Backstroke and winning bronze on 100m Butterfly all in the space of one weekend.
Her time of 27.01 in 50m Freestyle qualifies her to take part in the British Swimming Championships in Glasgow in April.
DASC had a squad of 18 swimmers in total at the Championships in Sheffield, many of whom produced lifetime best swims, including Molly Mooney who was Darlington’s only Senior medallist as she won bronze in the 16 and over 200m Breaststroke.
Coach Glen Fenby said: ‘"I am thrilled with all of Harriet’s swims in the pool over a long weekend and her determination to convert all of her training into top class performances. Overall, the Darlington squad opened the Long Course season in superb shape. Almost every one of our swimmers were producing new personal bests which augurs well for the rest of the season.’
