BUDDING musicians are being invited to turn junk into music.
Melting Pot Arts, based in Darlington, has launched two groups - an adult singing group and a teenage band.
The group for children, aged 13 to 18, was set up following interest shown in a series of junk music workshops over the summer.
They will play a variety of instruments made from water barrels, dustbin lids, tumble driers and other pieces of rubbish.
Clare Turnbull, from Melting Pot Arts, said: "You don't need any experience, just an interest in funky beats and a love of creating a unique type of music."
Darlington Junk Band will meet every Wednesday, during term time, at The Forum Music Centre, Borough Road, Darlington, from 7pm to 8.30pm. Booking is essential.
The adult singing group, Darlington Sing Group, will perform musical theatre, gospel, light classical, folk and world song.
Sessions are open to anyone aged 18 or over. Booking is not essential. Members are asked to pay a £5 contribution a week.
