BLIND people will be given a taste of life behind the wheel at a charity event this weekend.
The Darlington branch of the British School of Motoring (BSM) will be inviting blind people with their families and colleagues to drive around Donnington Park race circuit.
It will be the first time many of them have had chance to be behind the wheel of a car.
They will be able to drive two laps of the circuit in the dual-controlled cars, allowing them to get a feel for the steering and acceleration of the car. They will be guided by qualified instructors.
Their families and colleagues will also be blindfolded to give them a lap of the circuit.
It is the third year that the driving school has organised the charity event, to raise money for Guide Dogs for the Blind.
Previous events have been held at Nissan, in Washington. Organisers hope to beat last year's total of £8,000.
