A POP-up cafe is set to help blast away the post-Christmas blues tomorrow.

Food For Thought Darlington (FFTD) works to tackle food waste and inequality by intercepting perfectly good, still-fresh produce that has been taken off the supermarket shelves and re-distributing it to people.

And the Post-Christmas Blues Buster will have much more than the usual meals, clothes and household essentials available. There will be live music, children’s games and a play area, face-painting, Mr Bubbles and the chance to get a smart, free haircut from Mr Hutton and Theo.

FFT chair Louise Graham said: “All of this will be available on a Pay-As-You-Feel (PAYF) basis, meaning there is no fixed price and people can ‘pay’ in other ways, such as getting involved with the project or donating an item that might be of use to someone else.

“Lots of people make a great contribution by coming back and volunteering at subsequent events of ours. We love that.”

The event takes place at Northland Methodist Church, North Road, between 12.30pm and 3pm.
