PEOPLE are not taking up their right to ask questions at council meetings.
The Labour group promised greater public involvement after May's elections, when their majority was reduced from 15 seats to five and they won fewer votes than the Conservatives.
Among the measures was inviting the public to ask questions at cabinet meetings and to ask questions at full council meetings, giving seven days' notice. But residents have not taken part.
In his report to the full council, to be held on Thursday, council leader John Williams writes: "We continue to publicise the opportunity for the public to attend council and ask questions on items to be considered.
"Up to now, no one has taken the opportunity to do so and this is an issue that needs the consideration of the Governance Review Working Group."
The next cabinet meeting is on Tuesday, October 16, at 5.30pm, in the town hall.
