CHILDREN at a Darlington Primary School have elected their own head boy and head girl.
For the first time, Corporation Road Primary School decided to have two children to represent the school.
An election was held, with an official voting booth and ballot box from Darlington Borough Council, and Ali Bari and Karla Bradley were voted into office.
Pupils at the school also voted in members of the school council.
The mayor of Darlington, Councillor Marian Swift, announced the result of the election at an assembly.
Headteacher Peter King said: "This is the first time we've had a head boy and girl, and we thought it would be a good chance for the children to see how a proper vote is held.
"We want the head boy and girl to be ambassadors for the school and represent it. Both the children that were chosen are excellent role models, and I think the pupils made a very good choice.
