YOUNG people interested in a vocational career are being offered the chance to work with Darlington Borough Council's Street Scene team.
The young apprentice scheme will allow anyone aged 15 or over the chance to spend three days a week with the team.
They will work on tasks including collecting rubbish, gardening, cleaning graffiti, and picking up litter.
The apprentices chosen will have a specific interest in Street Scene work.
Chris McEwan, the council's cabinet member for children's services, said: "Not all young people thrive in the traditional school setting and the young apprentice scheme gives them another route to get valuable work experience and learn new skills.
"Street Scene is all about making a difference to whole communities and this scheme will hopefully show what can be achieved if everyone works together."
