Dave Penney has distanced himself from reports linking him with a move to Sheffield Wednesday, pointing out that he still has a job to do at Darlington.
Reports last week linked Penney with Wednesday, who are currently managed by Brian Laws, whose future in the job is thought to be under threat following a poor start to the season.
The Owls are bottom of the Championship having lost their first six games of the season, although some of the pressure on Laws will ease thanks to Saturday's win over Hull City.
However, should Wednesday's form not significantly improve then speculation would no doubt continue.
Penney's track record from his time at Doncaster ensures his name is often linked to other jobs, but he is keen to point out that, as yet, there is no job available at Hillsborough.
"There is no vacancy at Sheffield Wednesday so it's not fair on Brian Laws or anyone linked with the job. I don't know where people get it from," said Penney.
"There is nothing else to even consider other than Darlington because that is where I am at.
"I've got a two-year contract here so I'm not looking to go anywhere. There is a job to do here, we are top of the league and Sheffield Wednesday are bottom.
"We are trying to build something. Everything is going in the right direction and we just want to keep it going."
Penney was appointed Quakers chief almost a year ago when, he points out, some media sources had believed he was to become the next manager at Hillsborough instead.
He added: "When I first came to Darlington, and when I was out of work too, it was a similar situation because my name was getting linked. Sheffield Wednesday did not have a manager and my name got mentioned but it's all rubbish.
"It is just paper talk, but you can't stop what people are going to put in the paper.
"Sometimes when you're top of the league people want to distract you. I don't know who put that in the paper but all of a sudden focus is taken away from the team and you end up talking about other things.
"So it is unfair on us and I don't where it has come from."
Former Darlington loanee Kasper Schmeichel has signed a new four-year deal with Manchester City.
City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson has rewarded the the Danish Under-21 international keeper for the impressive form that had seen him concede only two goals this season before Saturday's 3-3 draw at Fulham.
