BUDDING poets have been praised, after their school was named by publishers as the one of the best contributors in the country to a poetry anthology.
Publisher Young Writers named Hurworth School Maths and Computing College as the best contributor in the region to their A Way With Words anthology.
Young Writers compile and publish anthologies from 16 regions.
A total of 95 pupils from Hurworth had their work published in the North-East book.
The 16 schools judged as contributing the finest selection of poems were given £250 each.
Sue Johnson, assistant head of English at the school, said: "It has really boosted everyone's interest in poetry."
