A DRUG addict used a hoodie when he stole a DVD player from a supermarket, a court heard yesterday.
Edward Franklin, 23, admitted stealing the item from Asda, on April 4, when he appeared in Darlington Magistrates' Court.
Rachel Masters, prosecuting, said Franklin, of Cricketfield Row, Rise Carr, Darlington, had entered the store at about 4.20pm.
A security guard saw him wandering about before putting on the hooded-top.
He grabbed the player and ran out of the store. He was asked three times to stop before dropping the item near the cash machines.
He also admitted breaching a community order.
Chris Bunting, mitigating, said: "He assures me he is keen to work with the probation service."
Franklin was given a nine-month drugs rehabilitation order
