A PERIOD of good weather has helped members of a flower society produce a burst of colour for an annual show.
Darlington Chrysanthemum and Dahlia Society, which attracts members from across County Durham, held its annual early show at Bondgate Methodist Church on Saturday.
Organisers said recent weather had helped exhibitors to raise the standards of the competition.
Father and son team Kelvin and Andrew Vincent were among the award winners in the barn challenge class.
Many other trophy winners are expected to be up against other growers from across the country at the Harrogate Flower Show this weekend.
A spokesman for the society said: "If the quality and standard of exhibits are as high as they staged at Darlington, the chances are that they could well receive further success."
The society's next show, in the church on November 10, is dedicated to late chrysanthemums.
