MORE than £1,700 has been donated to an appeal for new hospital equipment.
The money was raised by two residents for Darlington Memorial Hospital's eye scanner appeal.
Sheila Russell, from Bolton Avenue, Richmond, North Yorkshire, donated £1,050.
An all-day coffee morning at her home raised £600.
The rest of the money was raised by local groups, including Richmond Meet, the 41 Club and Colburn Saturday night sequence dancers.
Peter Tindale, from Marske, organised a barbecue at his home for members of Darlington Rotary Club and Darlington Inner Wheel, which raised £660. The £53,000 appeal to buy an Optical Coherence Tomographer was launched in February.
About £40,000 has already been raised.
The equipment will help those with serious eyesight problems caused by diabetes and by macular degeneration.
