A NEW housing estate on the site of a former school will be named after the village church.
The developers of the 16-home development on the former Sadberge Primary School have named it St Andrew's Park.
The decision comes after Reiver Homes asked residents in the village, near Darlington, to come up with suggestions for the name.
Three themes were adopted and put to parish councillors, before Reiver Homes asked Darlington Borough Council to approve its decision.
The church in the village is called St Andrew's Church. The former school was Church of England controlled.
Plans for the 16 homes, including three, four and five-bedroomed detached homes were approved by councillors last month.
The primary school was shut in July 2004. It was demolished two years later. Pupils moved to Middleton St George Primary School.
Building work is expected to start soon.
The playing fields behind the old school will be kept as a football pitch, with junior side Middleton Rangers expected to use them as their home ground.
