A historic church gave visitors a new perspective on a North-East town at the weekend.
St Cuthbert's Church, in Darlington, invited people to take tours of its 14th Century belfry.
St Cuthbert's opened as part of Heritage Open Days, a national event, in which thousands of buildings of architectural and cultural note open their doors for free to the general public for four days during this month.
The event was organised by the Civic Trust and English Heritage. The grade I-listed Anglican church, which is in the Market Place, has Norman foundations, a 14th Century font, and misericords dating from the 15th Century.
Its stained glass windows were restored in the 19th Century.
