A DARLINGTON man will put on his walking boots and take on the challenge of the Yorkshire Three Peaks for Diabetes UK.
Colin Wilkinson, who has had diabetes for nearly 30 years, is taking part in the walk today to help raise money for the charity's care and research projects.
The 47-year-old electrician will be accompanied by his son, Neil, 18, and has already raised £150.
He says: "I have always fancied trying to conquer the Yorkshire Three Peaks as I do a lot of walking, and Diabetes UK is definitely a worthwhile cause to support."
Ann Rowe, fundraising manager for Diabetes UK in Yorkshire and the North, said: "I am pleased that someone like Colin in taking on this challenge.
"It is great to have someone who understands the effects of diabetes taking part."
