From Community Correspondent Michelle Thompson:
Thank you to everyone who contacted me about pigeon droppings under North Road Railway Bridge. It is on the agenda for our next meeting and we will hopefully have Street Scene in attendance. I will keep you up to date with developments.
How many times have you moaned about something or had a great idea, but have done nothing about it?
North Road Community Partnership gives you the opportunity to improve the quality of life for residents in your area. If you want to make a difference or simply learn about what is happening in your community, then come along to our next meeting on Thursday, from 6pm at Longfield School. Everyone is welcome.
I recently attended a pre-consultation event hosted by the Darlington Partnership developers of the Sustainable Community Strategy for Darlington.
It was an opportunity for people from all sections of the community to work with senior officials from the public and private sectors to shape the way in which Darlington develops and thrives in the future. There were a number of workshops during the day addressing the key elements that affect people's lives, including the economy, educational achievements, leisure activities, community safety, health and well-being, the environment and transport.
Not only did I find it extremely interesting and worthwhile, I felt that my views were listened to and appreciated. It became clear in each workshop that we all have the same vision for Darlington and together our voice can make a difference.
This event was not just about talking, it was about doing, and I for one felt proud to be playing a small part in shaping the future of Darlington.
To learn more, an open meeting is scheduled for Saturday September 29, at the Dolphin Centre.
