A RESTAURANT and nightspot aimed at customers aged over 30 has opened in Darlington.
The Gastro Restaurant, in Gladstone Street held an exclusive launch event last night and will open daily from today.
It has undergone a major refurbishment, including timber flooring, leather sofas, lighting and an open kitchen.
Photography from Darlington artist John Reid has completed the look.
Craig McMeeken, who has won an array of accolades and rosettes, has been appointed as head chef.
Managing director Judith Waters said: "The Gastro provides the perfect setting for Craig's vision for exciting food and stunning new menus. Our ambition is to be the best restaurant in the North-East."
The venue will also include a roof terrace, with an area dedicated for barbecues with patio heaters.
Ms Waters added: "We wanted to create a restaurant that was more than just somewhere to eat. Being passionate and interested in local food, we buy our quality ingredients from local farmers and suppliers to create dishes that show all that's best in the area."
The restaurant will be open from 6pm every day. The members' only bar is open from 5.30pm to 3am, with a local DJ playing every Friday and Saturday night.
