CROWDS were treated to a traditional English display when morris men danced in Darlington town centre at the weekend.
Stockton Morris Men joined forces with Benfieldside Morris Men to entertain shoppers in the town's Pedestrian Heart on Saturday morning.
The two groups have regularly danced together for the past two years and have taken part in folk festivals in Sweden and Germany.
The performance was part of Darlington Borough Council's Street Art programme.
John Kelly, a member of the Stockton group for the past four years, said: "We got a lot of response from the people, who were pleased to see us.
"It was a great area to dance in and we will definitely be back next year."
The Street Art programme continues tomorrow when the Carl Thompson Trio perform modern and traditional jazz music at Joseph Pease Place, at 11.30am, 1pm and 2.30pm.
Amateur performers who would like to busk in the town centre can contact Marion Bynoe, Darlington Borough Council's events development officer, on 01325-388151 or 07966-347095.
