STARS from Darlington Football Club will be guests of honour at a children's centre fun day next week.

The footballers have been invited to the McNay Street Children's Centre's stay and play afternoon on Thursday.

The centre will be open from 1pm to 3pm. Entertainment will include a bouncy castle, inflatable tunnel and basketball.

The Zone Active project will also be running sports activities on the railway museum field, and there will be a barbecue and refreshments provided by the Darlington Learning Disabilities Service.

The centre provides facilities and support for families with children under five in the McNay Street area.

Families who already use the centre, as well as those interested in finding out more, are invited to the stay and play afternoon.

Councillor Chris McEwan, cabinet member for children's services, said: "There are lots of great facilities at the children's centre and a lot of advice and support available for families.

"I am delighted that Darlington Football Club is supporting the work of the children's centre and hopefully lots of people will come along to meet the players."
