STAFF from a Darlington car dealership left their vehicles at home for a day to take part in a race for charity.
A five-strong team from Sherwoods Chevrolet took part in the Darlington 10K run to raise funds for St Teresa's Hospice.
The team expect to have raised more than £1,000 towards the hospice's Half a Million Hugs appeal, which aims to build a bereavement counselling centre.
Alasdair MacConachie, managing director of Sherwoods, said: "I'm very proud of the effort the team put in to raise money for this very worthy cause. Our company is a strong supporter of St Teresa's Hospice, which does so much good work for the communities in this area."
Sherwoods Chevrolet team members spent months preparing for the event, on Sunday, August 12. The best- performing team member was Peter McKinney, who completed the race in 46 minutes.
David Jones, St Teresa's Hospice fundraising manager, said: "I cannot thank Sherwoods Chevrolet enough for the support they give the hospice and I am delighted to hear they participated in the recent 10K run to help raise funds for us.
"The money will be used towards our biggest-ever public appeal - Half a Million Hugs."
Sherwoods was the main sponsor of the run, which attracted more than 1,100 runners.
