Two of Darlington's injury victims are winning their fight for fitness, but midfielder Ricky Ravenhill may be forced to sit out this weekend's game with Notts County.

Ravenhill tweaked a hamstring at Accrington Stanley and, although he is not thought to have suffered serious damage, the nature of the injury means he may not be risked. On Saturday he was replaced by Micky Cummins who will be vying for his place with Rob Purdie.

Kevin McBride, however, and Neil Austin are both likely to be available this weekend.

Scottish midfielder McBride left the field late on at Accrington with a slight knee injury but returned to training yesterday and, assuming he suffers no reaction, will keep his place in Dave Penney's side.

Right-back Austin played the first game of the season but, due to an ankle injury picked up in training early last week, has since missed trips to his hometown club Barnsley in the League Cup and the win at Accrington.

Cummins suffered a groin strain in pre-season but has been steadily working his way back to fitness, coming on as a sub in each of Quakers' last two matches and turning out for the reserves against Leeds last week.

Cummins scored a hat-trick in that game but did not feature last night when Darlington's reserves played their first league game of the season at home to Sheffield Wednesday.

A strong Darlington side lost to a first half goal scored by Matthew Bowman at Norton and Stockton Ancients last night.

Wednesday dominated the first half but after the break Quakers created several goalscoring chances yet failed to take any of them.

Darlington RESERVES (4-4-2): Oakes, Burgess, Miller, Clarke, Brackstone, Wainright, Todd, Gladwin (Riley 60m), Barreau, Blundell, Harty.
